Rebuilding a Community

January the 4th 2013 was just like any other Friday to most people, but for the residents of Dunalley in South East, Tasmania, it was a day that their town was devastated by a wild and furious bushfire. 65 buildings were burned down in the small village, which sustains itself from farming, timber and the fishing industry. Included was the police station, the local bakery and the primary school. With only one month to go before school starts back after the summer holiday, there was concern to where the children would go to be educated. Now everyone knows who lives in a small community, that the school is the heart of the community and the locals desperately wanted their children to stay in their town and not move off to other schools in the vicinity (within 20 mins drive). They pledged to make their school happen again and with EVERYONE working together, these kids will be going to school today, on the 5th February, in their own town. Work has been done 7 days a week clearing the mess left by the fire, laying concrete and getting ready for the relocatable classrooms to arrive. Teachers from all over the state have gone through their resources donating to the teachers who lost everything. This entire process has been a miracle of people donating their time and skills and resources to get a positive result. Check out this video clip and see the miracle happen. And this
