Priceless Experiences

During the school holidays, I often have my 6 year old grand-daughter, Zoe come to stay.  I have been in the habit of spoiling her with treats and trips out and about, that usually cost an arm and a leg.  For example: last trip Zoe and I went to visit Port Arthur and I was staggered at the cost. It cost is $45 just for the 2 of us and we left after only an hour as the weather turned really bad and we weren't prepared for it. Sometimes she is treated to a visit to the cinema or SeaHorse World. All these places cost big bucks. This time things were different, we had the beach on our doorstep and Zoe took great delight in collecting bits and pieces from the beach. She is quite a creative girl and will probably use the shells, sticks, leaves, feathers, stones and seaweed in her collages. She had a ball in the fresh air and found her time both enjoyable and fulfilling and it didn't cost us a cent.

Lesson 6:  Children can be entertained without having to spend a fortune on them. After all what is important to a child is that you are actually tuned in to them and you show them how valued they are by spending time with them.
